Tips for Successful Swim Lessons  Level 2 Class

  • Observe all pool rules.
  • Supervise your child in the locker rooms.  Family changing rooms and restrooms are available.  Children 5yrs and older are not permitted in  opposite  gender locker rooms.
  • Have students use the restroom before class.
  • Non toilet trained students must wear  tight fitting swim diapers.
  • Tie back long hair before class.  Students in advanced swim classes may be most comfortable wearing swimming caps.
  • Goggles are not recommended for beginning swim students.  Goggles are recommended for student in intermediate and advanced levels.
  • ATTEND CLASS! Swimming skills are progressive, missing classes means missing new skills.  Lessons missed on the part of the student will not be made-up or compensated.
  • Watch your child’s lessons from a distance.  Often watching your child in close proximity will distract your child.  Positive peer pressure and a trusting student/teacher relationship will help your child try new things.
  • Support your child by praising his or her effort in the pool
  • Understand that children develop swimming skills at different rates.  Expect your child to repeat levels and help him or her set personal goals to reach during each session.
  • Practice!  Come to public swim, and swim as a family.
  • If you have questions or concerns please talk to the instructor or on-duty supervisor.  The sooner you alert staff to a concern or problem the faster we can address it.
  • Take time to complete a participant feedback form.  We like to hear from you about what is going great and what we could do to make lessons even better.
