UTILITIES, FIRE, BUILDING, AND SOLAR INDUSTRY REPRESENTATIVES COLLABORATION

Through funding provided by the U.S Department of Energy, the City was awarded a Solar America Cities grant to construct a regional Firefighter Photovoltaic (PV) training prop. An expert in the field of PV safety will be conducting training for regional Firefighters during the month of June.  The training will instruct Firefighters on procedures to safely work in around solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems during fire incidents and will allow Building Inspector’s and Solar Contractor’s to work with a live properly installed system. The PV system will also provide power for the Tower classrooms.

Great job by all!  PV collector

This is a good example of the benefits of private/public partnerships!

STREET PERFORMER PERMITS

In 2010 the Santa Rosa City Council approved a new ordinance permitting Street Performers in Santa Rosa. Now in its third year, the Street Performer Ordinance (Ordinance No. 3956), encourages permitted performers to showcase their talents for tips in public areas in Santa Rosa.  In 2011, 218 free permits were issued. To date, 115 permits have been issued in 2012. While most performers are located downtown, the program is city wide. Permit applications are available online and at the Finley Community Center. Permits are free, and you must apply in person at the Finley Community Center with a photo ID.
